Erica, Vijay, Rajiv and Kiran just arrived back from India after completing adoption of a little girl - Pori (meaning Angel in Bengali). Here is the story.. A bit of history Pori was born in Kolkotta (formerly known as Calcutta) on May 28, 2004. She was raised in an orphanage maintained by Indian society for rehabilitation in Kolkotta. She is now a healthy 10 month old baby girl, see the pictures. Travel and adoption We decided to take our family of 4 to India and visit Singapore to complete the adoption process. We had a wonderful time visiting Vijay's sister and family in Singapore. Rajiv and Kiran really enjoyed the time with their cousins. We also had a good time catching up with a few old friends from Singapore. We then went to India for adoption of Pori. Vijay's mom was with us the whole time and she enjoyed seeing us all and meeting her new granddaughter Pori. The time in India was very busy and stressful at times. However God provided grace and strength needed at the right time. At the end of our travels we calculated that we spent 60 hours in airplane, 33 hours in trains in India and about 20 hours in airports. Needless to say we were exhausted when we got back to Greensboro, NC. We are home and grateful for the work completed. We ask for your prayers as we go through the next several months of adjustment. Thanks for all of you who helped and prayed with us through this process.
Thought: Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this, to visit orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself unspotted from the world. James 1:27 |
